About Leesa
The Full Story
I am the founder of Positive Paws Academy and have 40 years of experience with dogs and nearly 10 years experience as dog training instructor.
I’m passionate about helping you build a strong, positive relationship with your dog through science-backed, positive reinforcement methods.
As a qualified dog trainer I have an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Distinction) and listed as a Provisional Animal Behaviour Technician with the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). I am currently a Clinical Animal Behaviour degree student at Harper Adams University. Qualified to teach ScentWork UK Tier 1, I also proudly teach the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme at clubs in Walsall and Birmingham and an A-list Kennel Club Accredited Examiner for the Scheme. Currently a student member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), I am looking to obtain full membership in September.
I have attended workshops and training sessions conducted by globally respected dog behaviourists and trainers, including Amber Batson, Karolina Westlund, Jane Ardern, Chirag Patel, Helen Phillips, Daniel Mills and Helen Zulch's Life Skills for Puppies.
I’m committed to offering the most up-to-date and effective techniques for training your dog. At Positive Paws Academy, I only use kind, science-based methods to ensure that you and your dog communicate effectively, deepening your bond through mutual understanding and respect. Whether you're training for the first time or tackling more complex behaviours, my goal is to guide you every step of the way.
When I’m not at university or instructing, you’ll find me applying clicker training with my gundogs or relaxing with a good book...about dogs! It's always about dogs!
Thank you for visiting Positive Paws Academy. I can’t wait to help you and your dog embark on a rewarding training journey together!
Warm regards,
Leesa
